LINGAM THAT CHANGES ITS COLOR
In the long list of various miracles and mysteries of India, the amazing shivalingam-chameleon, which changes its color several times a day, takes a worthy place. Its located in the ancient temple of Achaleshwara Mahadev in Chambala (Dholpur, Rajasthan, India). This temple is over a thousand years old and many scientists was failed in their attempts to explain the cause of this phenomenon.
In the morning this shivalingam is red, in the afternoon it changes color to saffron, and at night it turns black. To see this extraordinary sight, devotees flow to the temple throughout the day. They believe that this is capable to fulfill any their desires. Among others, many young unmarried people come there, hoping that the darshan of this shivalingam will help them find a good match.
This temple was built at the end of the IX century and it is said that it was constructed around the toeprint of Lord Shiva. This is the only temple in the world where Shiva's toe is worshiped. According to legend, this lingam reaches the very center of the earth and keeps this world in proper order.
However, this is not the only miraculous phenomenon associated with this temple. Legend has it that when it was attacked by Muslim invaders, many bees flew out of the Nandi bull idol, and nowadays there was a case when water began to flow from Nandi's mouth. It is also interesting that the real length of the underground part of this shivalingam is still unknown.
